The Mission
The Future Funk Collective is a community of musicians, artists, and Djs. When people consolidate their resources and work together, they can achieve anything. Like a hockey team, we present multiple lineups of musicians. And like a great chef, we cook up a wide palette of musical variety. We believe that funk can sound like anything from deep grooves to white noise and screaming, and we always being our fullest artistic expression.
We are currently working on our second album. Titled “They’re All Rhythm Instruments,” the album blurs the lines of funk, groove, hip hop, soul, rock, and avant-garde stylings. Our typical lineup live is guitar, keyboards, bass, drums, and sometimes vocalists.
Every member of the Future Funk Collective has their own solo and band projects, full and part time gigs, and other artistic pursuits. We support and encourage every member of the team to relentlessly pursue their artistic vision. We intend to bridge the gaps between disparate cultural communities. We create a forum for each artist to inspire the next and provide a platform for the cross-pollination of ideas.
The Future Funk Collective seeks out thriving artistic communities in every town, and we encourage visual artists, freestyle rappers, break dancers, apolitical counterculture and grassroots groups, local bands, audiophiles and music collectors to join us at our events and on our albums. We strive to build connections between communities in different cities, and to facilitate every artist’s vision of bringing their music to the people.
After all, once you peel back the labels, genres, categories, and gross generalizations, it’s all music.
